Meet Andrew Stark: Turning “I Can’t” into “Watch Me!”

Every child belongs in the water. For over a decade, Andrew Stark has watched the magic that happens when a child moves past fear and discovers the joy of swimming.

As a certified swim instructor, Andrew spent years in traditional swim programs, but he noticed something heartbreaking: many children were being left behind. Families with neurodiverse children—those with Autism, Down Syndrome, ADHD, Traumatic Brain Injury, sensory sensitivities, or learning differences—often felt like traditional lessons weren’t built for them. Many felt that traditional programs required their child to adapt to the lesson, rather than the lesson adapting to their child. Andrew knew there was a better way. He founded Bright Star Swim Academy on a simple, powerful belief: every child can learn to swim; they just need an instructor who speaks their language.

The Bright Star Difference

At Bright Star, we don’t believe in “one size fits all.” We believe in your child. Whether your learner is neurodiverse or neurotypical, Andrew uses a gentle, adaptive approach featuring the specific modifications needed to meet them exactly where they are.

We take the stress out of the water by coming directly to your home pool. In a familiar environment, without the noise and distractions of a crowded public center, your child can truly shine. We don’t just teach strokes; we build the safety and confidence that changes lives.

Our Specialized Heart

We specialize in creating “Aha!” moments for learners who might struggle in traditional settings. With over a decade of hands-on experience, Andrew has helped countless neurodiverse children find their footing and flourish in the water, including those with:

  • Autism & Down Syndrome
  • ADHD & Learning Differences
  • Sensory Challenges & Water Anxiety
  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)

Empowered. Safe. Joyful.

Our lessons are 1:1 and student-centered. We use proven adaptive techniques to turn barriers into stepping stones. When your child is with Andrew, they aren’t just a student—they are the star of the journey. We focus on making every learner feel:

  • Safe in a familiar environment (in their own pool).
  • Supported by an expert who understands their unique needs.
  • Empowered to master a life-saving skill while having a blast.
